Meet Hannah Hess

Hannah Hess is a coloratura soprano and current senior at Boston University, where she is pursuing dual studies in Music and Hospitality Administration. A passionate performer for over a decade, Hannah has developed a versatile repertoire spanning opera, musical theatre, and concert performance.

With early successes marked by her 1st Place seat in the 16–18 Division of the American Protégé Vocal Competition, earning her a debut at Carnegie Hall, she has since been recognized as a Young College Third Place Winner at the New England NATS Competition and a finalist in the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition for singing. Additionally, she is proud to have placed first in the Monologues division at MTCA. 

Most recently, Hannah performed Erste Knabe in Die Zauberflöte with the Berlin Opera Academy in 2024. Other operatic highlights include Belinda in Dido and Aeneas with the Revolutionary Orchestra and Ms. Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief at Boston University. In musical theatre, she has brought characters to life such as Shirley (Disaster!), Meg (Little Women), Cinderella (Into the Woods), and the title role in Mary Poppins. 

In addition to her stage career, Hannah remains deeply engaged in creative leadership and arts advocacy. She serves as the Mission and Development Lead at MIB Agents Osteosarcoma Alliance, where she combines her communication and organizational skills with her commitment to community impact. She is also a current Intern with Hidden Doorways Luxury Travel and the Newbury Hotel Boston where she brings artistry to the world of luxury travel. Additionally, Hannah is proud to serve as the Concert Operations Manager for The Young Professional Musicians Collective, bringing her passion for organization and music to life. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Hannah can often be found delighting young audiences as a performer with My Pretty Princess Party CLT. 

Following her recent directorial debut with Waitress! The Musical: In Concert, Hannah looks forward to continuing to merge her passions for performance, creativity, and leadership – on and off the stage.
