Passionate about creating music, Elizabeth (Liz) Zabala is always looking to collaborate and work with others. She is excited to be back in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta, to continue her musical journey. Liz completed her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Contemporary Conducting at Berklee College of Music. She has also completed a Pro Voice Teacher Mentorship Program to refine her voice teaching skills.
Liz is the Founder and Director of the Young Professional Musicians Collective, an organization created to empower young musicians through collaboration and performance experience. She has formerly served as the Assistant Conductor of the Boston Festival Orchestra and made her conducting debut at Jordan Hall with them, conducting the choral section of Gustav Holst’s “The Planets”. Previous roles also include teaching at Ward After-School Program as well as School of Rock, and Assistant Conductor of the Saxyderms, a Boston based saxophone ensemble.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys exploring new places with her dog, Truffle, trying new foods, and spending time with her friends and family. Liz loves to conduct, sing, teach, and most of all, share her passion for music with others.
